TOMORROW (SAT @ 2 PM): Press Conference & Rally Against the 13 Month Delay on the 405 Project

Join us at Wilshire & Veteran in Westwood (next to the Federal Building) at 2 pm tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013) for a press conference and rally against 405 freeway delays.

According to the latest news from yesterday’s Metro Construction Committee meeting, the 331,000 daily drivers on the 405 — the one of the busiest freeway sections in the USA — will face a 13 month delay in the completion of the I-405 Sepulveda Pass construction project if work isn’t sped up. That means the traffic backups, closures, detours, and its associated lost time and lost productivity could continue until mid-2014!

Join us on Saturday afternoon for a press conference and small rally hosted by the Faster 405 Campaign, as we call for work to be sped up.

BRING A SIGN OR POSTER (if you can) expressing your frustration with traffic and delays. (Need some ideas? “No more 405 delays!”, “Honk if you hate traffic”, “Kiewit & Metro: Hurry Up on the 405!”, “Faster405.com”, etc.) You’ll have a chance to hold it up during the press conference and then wave it to passing motorists to get out the word.

Just show up at 2 pm at the SE corner of Wilshire & Veteran in Westwood (map: http://goo.gl/maps/U23pm ), adjacent to the Federal Building in Westwood.  You can spread the word to your Facebook friends by optionally RSVPing on Facebook.

PLEASE invite your friends! This is a last minute event in follow up to Thursday’s Metro Board Construction Committee, so while we don’t expect a huge crowd given the last minute nature, we need your help in getting out the word. Thanks! Share the link to this website (Faster405.com), or use Facebook to invite your friends to the Facebook event. Please forward this to any local organizations’ mailing lsits you belong to, as well.

MEDIA: members of the press may RSVP (optional, but appreciated) to dmurphy@endinggridlock.org. Media are invited to set up in advance.

About

Angelenos Against Gridlock logo The Faster 405 Campaign is an initiative by Angelenos Against Gridlock to get the 405 Sepulveda Pass construction done ASAP and to get Angelenos moving again. Every day of delay impacts almost a third of a million drivers. The project is currently many months delayed. Our role as a watchdog and cheerleader is to pressure the construction team to get things done, so Angelenos can get on with their lives.

We acknowledge the generous support of Elon Musk, whose donations make the Faster 405 Campaign possible.
